Strand Bookstore
828 Broadway New York, NY, 10003
About
Independent bookstore founded in 1927 by Benjamin Bass in New York City. The flagship location is at 828 Broadway at the corner of East 12th Street in Manhattan's East Village. The store's iconic slogan is "18 Miles Of Books," referring to the nearly 18 miles of shelving at the flagship location that holds more than 2.5 million new, used, and rare books. Originally opened on Fourth Avenue as part of "Book Row," the Strand is now the last surviving bookstore from that era. Today, it remains a family-owned business managed by Nancy Bass Wyden, the founder's granddaughter. In addition to the main Broadway location, Strand operates an Upper West Side store on Columbus Avenue, kiosks in Central Park and Times Square, and locations at Lincoln Center and LaGuardia Airport.
No open roles at Strand Bookstore right now.
