Role overview
We are seeking an experienced Strategic Account Manager to lead ambitious sales activities across the UK and Ireland, combining strategic account management with new business development initiatives. This senior role focuses on negotiating and managing national Read & Publish agreements whilst driving market expansion across Academic, Government, and Health sectors for our journal and eBook portfolios. You will work within integrated eBooks and Journals teams to create unified sales solutions, mentor a high-performing team, and prospect for new business opportunities throughout the region. Working closely with the Head of Sales, you will establish Taylor & Francis as the preferred partner for both existing strategic accounts and emerging market segments across the UK and Ireland. This is a hybrid role with 3 days of in-person time per week worked from our office in Milton Park, Oxfordshire.
Your work will involve designing, implementing, and owning a 1-to-3-year sales strategy for eBooks, Journals, and Open Access within your territory. You will develop and implement comprehensive strategies for consortium-level partnerships and multi-institutional agreements, and monitor and optimize the performance of existing national agreements to maximize value for all parties. You will be responsible for achieving and exceeding annual territory sales targets, contributing to the overall revenue and profit objectives of the business division. This role requires management and people leadership experience to provide coaching, guidance, and professional development to create high-performing specialists in both new business and account management covering both eBooks and journals. You will plan schedules and carry out regular customer sales visits and conference attendance to achieve financial targets within your sales region across the product portfolio. Travel for this role is expected to be 30% to 50%. You will achieve a profitable balance between driving and maximizing core revenues whilst exploring new avenues and products. You will integrate eBooks and Journals sales teams to create a unified, efficient territorial coverage model. This includes scheduling, planning, and executing regular sales visits to customers across the territory (when appropriate) to achieve financial targets within the sales region across the product portfolio. You will customize sales documentation and tools to maximize commercial opportunities and develop strong professional and industry stakeholder networks with key accounts within the assigned territory. Cultivating strong, holistic relationships with the customer base, including consortium leaders and government officials, will be key to ensuring that trading with each account is sustainable, profitable, and delivers a high level of customer satisfaction. You will also seek new customers and business development opportunities to grow Academic division revenues in the region.
