Role overview

Bonnier Books UK is seeking a performance marketing expert to join as Senior Marketing Manager for the Adult Trade division. This newly created role will lead marketing efforts across the commercial non-fiction and lifestyle hub, managing the non-fiction portfolio and calendar to identify and execute opportunities for maximizing sales. The successful applicant will have hands-on experience managing advanced paid social advertising campaigns across Meta and Google, and will be proficient in connecting with online communities.

We are the publishing home of well-known authors and influential voices, spanning genres from cookery and fitness to music, sports, and comedy. We are looking for a candidate with a genuine passion for the factual and entertainment sectors, coupled with a strong background in digital marketing. You will possess the ability to devise and execute data-driven digital marketing and advertising strategies to drive exceptional conversion for our non-fiction titles. This role requires leadership in channel planning, budget phasing, setting creative testing parameters and briefs, and delivering detailed reports to enhance conversion and campaign efficiency. Experience analyzing data sets to extract insights, forecast ROI, and track attribution for future investment is essential. You will serve as a senior voice advising on trends, seasonal and news cycle opportunities, conducting keyword and competitor research, and delivering campaigns for major launches and year-round bestsellers. Publishing experience is not a prerequisite; we welcome applications from those in digital marketing agencies or businesses within the lifestyle, sports, wellness, or TV/Film and entertainment sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Devise and deliver best-in-class, insight-driven year-round campaigns for our biggest non-fiction publications, repeat series brands, and catalogue bestsellers.
  • Manage the non-fiction paid social media portfolio, devising and running advanced advertising campaigns for our biggest non-fiction releases and backlist catalogue across key platforms including Meta, Google Suite, TikTok, and Amazon.
  • Develop comprehensive audience, creative, and offer test-and-learn frameworks to improve advertising and campaign efficiency.
  • Conduct keyword research to deliver keyword search optimization across our non-fiction portfolio.
  • Conduct competitor research, including out-of-category analysis, to identify new opportunities to maximize our non-fiction portfolio.
  • Generate detailed weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to present to the business, demonstrating effectiveness and delivering actionable insights from advertising campaigns and marketing activity.
  • Track key metrics including CTR (Click-Through Rate), ATC (Add to Cart), attribution, and conversion.
  • Proactively manage high-profile talent/author and agent communications, coordinating effectively and timely with internal and external stakeholders on marketing strategy and plans.
  • Proactively manage high-profile talent’s social media channels across the promotional book cycle to drive pre-orders and sales.
  • Effectively manage the year-round marketing budget for your title list, using insight and analysis to allocate investment to deliver growth and profitability.
  • Contribute to the acquisition of new non-fiction books by sharing insights on marketing, cultural, social trends, and influencers.
  • Work with the Marketing Director to pitch for new business for the Commercial Non-Fiction and Lifestyle hub.
  • Deputize for the Marketing Director in key meetings, including Acquisitions and Covers.
  • Manage one direct report, setting clear goals for their development and supporting and mentoring them to achieve their objectives.
  • Contribute to driving positive change, sharing learnings, and upskilling others within the Marketing team.
  • Contribute to identifying opportunities for innovation and growth across the business.

Qualifications

and Experience

  • Paid social media expert with hands-on experience creating and running advanced level campaigns on Meta, TikTok, and Google. Amazon experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into clear actions.
  • At least five years of experience working in marketing or digital marketing within the Entertainment or Lifestyle industry (e.g., TV/Film, Brand, Publishing, Wellness, Digital Marketing agency).
  • Experience with tools such as Semrush, Google Analytics, Google Trends/Keyword, Amazon Search Terms, and TikTok Keyword Tool is preferred.
  • Experience in creating and delivering impactful storytelling content and creative (especially for online) to maximize digital campaigns.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder relationship management skills.
  • Talent management experience is preferable.
  • A proactive project manager who brings teams together, plans ahead throughout the year, and delivers to deadlines.
  • A confident senior voice immersed in the entertainment market with a creative approach to spotting opportunities.
