Role overview
Research Integrity Associates (RIAs) serve as the primary point of contact for triaging and supporting ethics and integrity queries across Taylor & Francis Group's books and journals. Working collaboratively across departments and with various stakeholders, RIAs are integral to the Publishing Ethics and Integrity team, ensuring that investigation-related tasks are managed professionally and efficiently. Due to business growth, we are seeking two new Research Integrity Associates to join our team at the Milton Park office.
Responsibilities
- Triage, assess, and classify queries received in the Ethics team inbox, escalating as appropriate.
- Provide advice on publication ethics queries to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Research Integrity Managers to develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and resources for books ethics investigations.
- Work with the Team Lead, Ethics and Integrity Analyst to develop the management and tracking of books ethics cases.
- Ensure all investigations are tracked centrally with a clear audit trail, contributing to case reporting, in close collaboration with Research Integrity Managers.
- Handle cases professionally, accurately, and punctually, in accordance with T&F policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Assess special issue proposals according to established due diligence protocols, in conjunction with the Team Lead, Ethics and Integrity Analyst.
- Support large-scale investigations, ensuring they are handled in a consistent and auditable manner.
- Identify complex cases for escalation and prepare case summaries as appropriate, working closely with Research Integrity Managers (RIMs).
- Handle author name change queries and authorship change requests in accordance with T&F policies and SOPs, escalating where appropriate.
- Participate in research integrity tool testing and provide detailed feedback, in collaboration with the Ethics and Integrity Senior Operations Manager.
- Utilize tools such as iThenticate or ImageTwin to detect research integrity and ethics issues, interpreting results to verify concerns.
- Draft author correspondence and post-publication correction notices where appropriate.
- Contribute knowledge gained from cases to discussions around policies and workflows.
Qualifications
- A degree in Science, Technology, Medicine (STM) or Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS), or a demonstrated academic background.
- Familiarity with publication ethics and research integrity issues.
- Experience working with scholarly journals or books.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and shared folders.

Additional Information
- These roles are based in the UK, and you must have the right to work and live in the UK.
- A balanced working model is utilized, requiring in-person collaboration three days a week or more.
- Candidates must live within a commutable distance to the Milton Park office to facilitate the three-day-per-week office attendance requirement.
- The Milton Park office will be relocating to Oxford city centre in late 2027 / early 2028.
