Role overview

The Marketing Executive is responsible for the planning and delivery of 360-degree marketing campaigns, executing consumer and retail activity for selected Farshore books, and maximizing consumer awareness and sales. The role will support campaign development for key titles and brands across the list, including delivering increased brand awareness across online and offline channels to support sales of company products.

The role requires a strong multi-tasker with a keen interest in children’s books, who can demonstrate creative copywriting, strong communication, and organizational skills. A collaborative team player with exceptional project and time management. The Marketing Executive will maintain Farshore’s best-in-class marketing on and offline, reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager. The role is key across the books portfolio, so this role will take responsibility for delivering and supporting marketing activity across fiction, picture books, non-fiction, and brand titles, working closely with other members of the Marketing and PR team, Editorial, and Sales.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Compensation: £30,500 / year

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver commercially focused and strategic marketing campaign plans on time and to budget to maximize consumer awareness and sales
  • Present campaigns to key internal and external stakeholders including licensors, authors, illustrators, and agents
  • Brief media activity in-house and to external agencies
  • Brief and manage the creative development of digital and printed marketing materials, briefing external designers as required
  • Manage Farshore’s website, newsletter, and social media platforms, including creating and implementing creative content regularly
  • Supported by the Senior Marketing Manager, use consumer insight and data to understand readerships and inform audience targeting
  • Monitor ROI against pre-agreed KPIs and update stakeholders on results
  • Liaise with authors, illustrators, licensors, and designers to produce compelling digital content such as TikToks, Reels, animated videos, GIFs, and graphics
  • Develop collaborations with content creators across key channels
  • Assist with the management of assets on the Farshore Amazon Store
  • Work closely with the Sales and Trade Marketing teams to produce high-quality sales materials for titles; design, artwork, print, and distribution to booksellers
  • Assist with the stock management and distribution of Farshore’s spinners
  • Contribute to key company, marketing, and sales events and presentations including creating decks and providing support at events
  • Work closely with Editorial, Sales, and PR teams to support a culture of collaboration and integration
  • Liaise with international teams on retail promotions and marketing assets
  • Promote Farshore’s reputation with external stakeholders including authors, illustrators, agents, licensors, and customers
  • Project manage Farshore’s annual stocklist catalogue, liaising with internal stakeholders to ensure the stocklist is delivered to deadline
  • Assist with the organisation and delivery of key community events including YALC
  • Manage team credit card expenses, ensuring all reports are submitted on time
  • Complete key admin tasks including scheduling meetings, managing file sharing, briefing audiograms, fulfilling competition prizes, raising ISBNs, mailings, managing stock in our mailing house, dealing with spinner requests, setting up suppliers, monitoring the general inbox, and dealing with enquiries
  • Contribute to, and attend, author pitch decks for new acquisitions (where required)
  • Remain up-to-date with the children’s and wider book market and pay attention to trends, bestsellers, and Farshore’s title performance
  • Participate in projects or carry out any other duties that may be outside the standard remit as per business need
  • Uphold Farshore’s D&I plan in support of the Company’s policy and regularly communicate progress internally
  • Understand and abide by Farshore and HarperCollins’ crisis communications process, ensuring adherence to timescales and personal responsibility regarding escalation/response requirements as set out in the document
  • Understand and abide by NewsCorp’s Compliance and Data Protection guidelines and policies, taking corrective action in a timely and appropriate way
  • Be responsible for understanding and abiding by Farshore’s Embargo Process guidelines for all levels and types of embargo restriction, with specific reference to any personally signed documentation relating to specific titles

Requirements

  • Knowledge or experience of a marketing role
  • Enjoys reading widely with an active interest in the publishing industry – particular interest in children’s & YA is desirable
  • Knowledge of social media and digital platforms
  • Creativity essential and strong eye for design
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage relationships
  • Ability to prioritise and juggle a busy workload
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Active interest in the latest marketing trends and campaigns from across the book industry as well as the wider entertainment and media sector
  • Team-player, looking to share their learnings with the wider marketing team and foster a culture of shared learning
