As we seek further sustainable and profitable growth, and build on our culture of excitement and ambition, we are growing our team across several departments.The Job ProfileSimon & Schuster UK is Junior Production Controller to join one of the fastest growing and most dynamic Children’s Publishers in the UK. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop a career in book production. Working closely with the Production Manager and wider Production team, you will support the delivery of a varied list of predominantly mono titles while developing your commercial awareness, technical production knowledge and understanding of the publishing process. You will also be responsible for accurate administration and record keeping as well as tracking schedules for titles as each book progresses through the estimating, pre-press, production and delivery stages. A member of the Children’s Fiction Production Team, the Junior Production Controller will report into the Production Manager Children’s Fiction.The Job RoleThe successful candidate will assist in the management of the mono list, including reprints, ensuring accurate administration and record-keeping throughout the production process. They will contribute to team and departmental projects and initiatives, while working collaboratively with colleagues across the business, particularly within the Children's Design, Publishing and Editorial teams. They will communicate proactively with their line manager and play a positive, constructive role in discussions relating to the production of our children's books, helping to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and to the highest standard.The Candidate ProfileThe ideal candidate will have a good understanding of pre-press and production processes, along with a strong desire to develop their technical production knowledge. They will be familiar with the UK mass-market print production landscape and demonstrate excellent attention to detail, with a proactive, highly organised, collaborative and process-driven approach to their work. They will have an interest in developing their commercial awareness, particularly in relation to production costs and schedules, and be a dedicated team player with genuine enthusiasm for children's publishing and creating high-quality books.
